EVERYONE TALKS
ABOUT IMPACT.
OURS WEIGHS 75 KG.

That's how much single-use plastic goes into every step and lid we make with ECOLLABO8. That's plastic out of the waste stream and timber left in the forest, at a time when Indonesia's rainforests are under increasing pressure from deforestation.

2,500 BOTTLES.
1.5 EIFFEL TOWERS HIGH.

75 kg of plastic is about what 2,500 empty shampoo bottles weigh. Stood one on top of another, they would reach about 500 metres into the sky, half as high again as the Eiffel Tower.

Worked out from a typical 400 ml shampoo bottle, about 30 g and 20 cm tall: 75 kg ÷ 30 g = 2,500 bottles, × 20 cm = 500 m, ÷ 330 m = 1.5 Eiffel Towers.

THE FORESTS ARE
BURNING AGAIN.

AND THE SMOKE CROSSES BORDERS.

By the end of July, about 202,004 hectares of Indonesia's forest and land had burned, more than in the same months of 2019 and 2023, and 57% of it inside forest areas. Then the haze began: since August, smoke from fires in Sumatra and Kalimantan has drifted across Southeast Asia.

It has reached Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. Sarawak closed 591 schools in August, and on 15 September every region of Singapore had unhealthy air for the first time since 2019. Malaysia and Singapore have asked Indonesia to fight the fires at once, and Malaysia and Brunei have agreed to raise the haze at ASEAN.

People start most of the fires, to clear land for plantations and mines. In Kalimantan, the environmental group Walhi found 74% of the hotspots inside company concessions, more of them on oil palm plantations than on mining or forestry concessions. Forest that has been logged, and peat drained by canals, dry out and burn more readily. Indonesia's government calls this year's fires the most intense in eleven years.

BALI / PLASTIC

WHERE THE
PLASTIC GOES.

In Indonesia, more than 42% of plastic waste is burned and more than 13% is dumped, and only about 40% of people have their rubbish collected. In Bali, about 33,000 tonnes of plastic waste reach rivers and waterways every year.

The 75 kg in the step and lid of every Phantom and Oracle is plastic taken out of that stream, sorted, and made into something people use every day.

OUR PARTNER / ECOLLABO8

WASTE, MADE
INTO STRUCTURE.

MADE IN BALI. STOOD ON EVERY DAY.

ECOLLABO8, in Badung, has turned Bali's plastic waste into building material since 2019: decking planks, panels and outdoor pieces that take the place of timber. It takes the plastic that is hard to recycle too, such as snack wrappers, sun-damaged crates and mixed resins, and can take in up to 9 tonnes a day.

Buying sorted plastic gives Bali's waste collectors a steady income.

Our step and lid are made there. They are structural, not decorative: the step is what you climb in and out on, and the lid covers the water between sessions.

WHAT IT'S MADE OF

STEEL AND PLASTIC.
NOT WOOD.

Wood soaks up water, and outdoors in Bali's sun and rain it swells, cracks and in time rots. There is no wood in a Phantom or an Oracle: the barrel is SS316 stainless steel, and the step and lid are recycled plastic.

The rim of a Phantom barrel, close up

THE BARREL

SS316 STAINLESS STEEL

  • MADE FOR SALT AIR

316 has 2 to 3% molybdenum, which is what lets it stand up to salt water and sea air. That is why it is called marine grade.

  • NOTHING SOAKS IN

Its hard, smooth surface has no pores. It is easy to clean, and germs find it hard to take hold.

  • NO COATING NEEDED

Stainless steel protects itself, so it needs no paint or sealant to keep rust away. The Phantom's barrel is bare, brushed steel.

  • A METAL THAT LASTS GENERATIONS

Stainless steel has only been made since the 1910s, and the early pieces are still going. The Chrysler Building's steel crown went up in New York in 1930 and was cleaned twice in its first 65 years. The Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge uses stainless steel where the sea reaches it, for a life of 120 years.

  • RECYCLED AGAIN AND AGAIN

New stainless steel is, on average, 48% recycled, and 95% of it is recycled at the end of its life.

THE STEP AND LID

RECYCLED PLASTIC

  • 75 KG OF SINGLE-USE PLASTIC

Taken out of Bali's waste and made into the step and lid by ECOLLABO8, in Badung.

  • COLOUR-STAY

UV inhibitors and stabilisers in the plastic shield it from the sun, so it doesn't crack, fade or turn brittle.

  • NO PAINT, NO SEALING

It needs no painting, staining or waterproofing, and cleans with soap and water.

  • MADE FOR SUN AND SALT

Made to stand up to sun, moisture and salt air. It won't rot, and it won't splinter.

WHAT IT ADDS UP TO

SMALL PARTS.
REAL WEIGHT.

  1. NO WOOD IN THE STEP OR LID

Recycled plastic in place of timber, so no forest is cut for them.

  2. 75 KG IN EVERY PHANTOM AND ORACLE

Collected, sorted and made into the parts you use every time you get in.

  3. MADE CLOSE TO WHERE IT GOES

Made in Bali, a drive from the villas and homes it goes to, by a business that buys sorted plastic from collectors.

  4. A STAINLESS STEEL BARREL

SS316 marine-grade stainless steel, a metal that can be recycled again and again.

The 75 kg is the single-use plastic in the step and lid of a Phantom or an Oracle, from Kaido and ECOLLABO8. The shampoo bottles are worked out from a typical 400 ml bottle (ALPLA, Amcor) and the Eiffel Tower's 330 m. What the steel and the plastic do is from the steel industry's own figures and ECOLLABO8's product information. The fire and haze figures are for 2026, while the fires are still burning, so they will change. Figures checked on 23 October 2026.
