Waste should never
be wasted.
ECOLLABO8’s founding idea. Kevin Vignier-Groiez, from a family in recycling since 1920, started it in Badung in 2019 with a small shredder and an injection machine he built from Precious Plastic’s open-source designs.
It grew into building materials and furniture: planks for decks and fences, panels that take the place of wood, tiles, chairs, and store furniture for brands such as The Body Shop, Disney and Under Armour.
It takes the plastic others turn away, such as snack wrappers, sun-damaged crates and mixed resins, up to 9 tonnes a day. Buying sorted plastic gives Bali’s waste collectors a steady income.
